Few words about us
We were in Krabi with the goal of assisting and rescuing retired elephants. We concentrated on old female elephants because we were a brand-new elephant sanctuary in 2018. We are solely focused on that goal.
We intended to raise a large sum of money in order to purchase elephants for our care. However, getting one involves a lot of time, effort, procedure, and money.
We’ve shifted our focus to a new goal, and we’re off to a great start!
During the pandemic’s two years, we had the opportunity to learn more about our elephants, their history, and their behavior. Before we get started, I’d like to remind you that our new mission is to provide new opportunities for all elephants in need, and we’ll do everything we can to help.
It’s possible that we won’t be able to purchase the elephants straight away. However, we now see a new means of ensuring that they have a decent life.
Many elephant owners in Thailand may purchase elephants in the belief that they will bring them riches and power. Then they’ll put their elephants to work to pay off the money they spent for them. The timber industry, tourism riding camp, or elephant shows with force, overloads, limited relaxation for work, and hard practice to dazzle the guests are the jobs that they will send the elephants to.
We will rent the elephants and bring them with us with better living conditions and no hard work at all because we do not have enough resources to buy them right immediately. This is a fresh start and a win-win situation for both the elephant’s owner and the elephant. The mahout’s wage will be paid by the owner, and we will provide food, routine care, medical care, and a safe place to reside for both mahouts and elephants.
We want to expand the property for a larger area and open the sanctuary to volunteers in the near future for those who want to learn and experience firsthand how to care for elephants.
Future plans are likewise contingent on money, cooperation, and assistance.
We hope that people will recognize us for these new purposes, which is why we would like to encourage you to visit the sanctuary with us and get to know us better.

Aonang Elephant Sanctuary’s goal is to rescue elephants of all ages and to offer the best possible living conditions for them. We can’t release them into the jungle because they weren’t born there and have no idea how to survive there.
We welcome all supporters in the form of a tour to help the elephants in the quickest way possible and to improve their life and living conditions.
